The Wigs - The End Of The Obvious 12" (1985)

I haven't much to say really about this release. Good (that's debatable obviously!), original stuff mixing Punk, New Wave, Garage...the voice gives it all a true character... with Sting-Rays' original bass player in the line-up (I think!)... you can hear some double-bass on "The Dead"... they released another 12" on Media Burn "Six O' Clock Shuffle"... haven't got this one so if someone... well... you know.... well....

02. If Tomorrow Will Die
03. The Dead
04. Halloween
05. Up In The World

Thanks Jeronyme. The singer reminds me of someone but I can't put my finger on it.

Fantastic, thanks - never heard this but was always keeping an eye out for it as I had "Six O'Clock Shuffle" and the subsequent 7" "I Said That I Loved You" which I bought at Fulham Greyhound when they played with The Acolytes.

@ Longy
I'm trying to put my finger on it too and that for the last 20 years!!!! Who the hell can it be?!

@Richard Hare
Well that's probably the main purpose of such blogs... exhuming some old records and bring back some memories... and share the lot...
Thanx for leaving a comment Richard!

Hi, just stumbled on your blog and had to leave a comment. I was the drummer of the Wigs and am absolutely delighted that after years of languishing in the where are they now files people have suddenly re-discovered us. I must admit that even I don't have a copy of the last single I Said That I Loved You but would be made up if anybody could upload an mp3 of it and its accompanying b side. It is a little known fact but we also did a Radio 1 session for Janice Long in 1987.....now a copy of that would make my day.

If anybody is interested I am now playing in a Glam covers band called Lipstick Torpedo (for my sins).

Thanks for the interest.

Hi Glenn and sorry for the late answer... 99% of the comments are from spammers so I tend to neglect them ... it's always great to hear from former members of bands that you've enjoyed (and actually still enjoy)... here's the link for your last single: http://www.mediafire.com/?zzhjfjuqoo2
can't help you for the Janice Long's session I'm afraid..

Thanx again for leaving a comment.

I can't believe there is anything about the Wigs on the internet. We stopped playing 20 years ago. I was only alerted to this by our guitarist Mungo who now lives in NZ, he contacted me via facebook with this link. I have everything the Wigs did - including about 50 copies of 'I said that I loved you'. I recently got a turntable again and played the vinyl for first time in ages. They are ok but nothing like as good as we were live.
Keith (the singer) both now live in Whitstable in Kent (not together I must stress) He's still a potter but I'm still rocking (sort of) in a Blondie tribute band BLONDEE

superb stuff

I'd love to hear the six o'clock shuffle 12" again... had all the wigs stuff at one time... shame the drums of the 1st 12" sound like biscuit tins, ruined what could have been a really good ep.
